Family & Community
Debbie and I have been married since 1970, are lifelong residents of Springfield and the proud parents and grandparents of four children and four grandchildren.
Community Service and Awards
Aside from my stint on City Council, I recently served on the boards of directors for: The Victim Center, Springfield Chamber of Commerce and Boy Scouts of America.
In addition, I am particularly proud to have been named the 2006 Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Professional Fundraisers.
Receiving the Springfield Business Journal’s 2002 Economic Impact Award and being selected as a member of their 2004 Dynamic Dozen were equally proud moments.
Finally, but just as importantly, I was awarded the 1993 Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. SBA, Kansas City District.
I am proud that my company, O & S Trucking, has been a part of the following disaster relief efforts:
- Fall 2005: Hauled relief supplies to victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, including cash donations
- May 2003: Provided a trailer for items donated to tornado victims in southwest Missouri
- September 2001: Hauled supplies to Ground Zero in New York
- April 1995: Hauled supplies to the site of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City
